Entertainment buzz: Facebook's top 10 moments of the week

TV lovers rejoiced this week at the news of a favorite show making a return, and movie-goers packed theaters to watch a marriage unravel in "Gone Girl" -- which was just one of the reasons Ben Affleck made headlines recently. This week also brought the beginning of a new "American Horror Story" season, and shocking revelations about the former TV dad from a beloved family drama.

Facebook has tallied the top 10 buzziest stories in entertainment this week, and all of those topics made the most-talked-about list. What had you talking? See what you missed in this exclusive list on CBSNews.com.

1. Showtime to bring back "Twin Peaks" in 2016

You might want to brew up some damn good coffee, because Showtime announced it's bringing back cult-hit series "Twin Peaks" with nine new episodes to air in 2016. This version won't be a reboot -- instead, it's going to continue the original storyline in the present day.



2. Ben Affleck spars with Bill Maher over Islam on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher"

Ben Affleck made headlines after sparring with Bill Maher last Friday on his HBO show "Real Time with Bill Maher." The "Gone Girl" actor called Maher and fellow guest Sam Harris' remarks about Islam "ugly" and "racist." In the week since, their heated debate has gotten coverage in the media, with Fox News' Bill O'Reilly among those criticizing Affleck for his remarks.



3. Actor and entertainer Geoffrey Holder dies at 84

Multifaceted award-winning performer Geoffrey Holder died last Sunday of complications of pneumonia at age 84. A dancer, choreographer, actor, composer, designer and painter, Holder practically did it all throughout his career, which included two Tony Award wins in directing and costume design categories for the Broadway musical "The Wiz." On Friday, Broadway marquees are dimming their lights in his honor.



4. "7th Heaven" actor Stephen Collins investigated for alleged child molestation

Police in New York say they are investigating "7th Heaven" actor Stephen Collins after he allegedly confessed to child molestation in an audio recording that was made public this week. In the wake of the allegations, two cable networks have pulled scheduled re-runs of "7th Heaven" and Collins was fired from the film "Ted 2" and will have his scenes cut out of an upcoming episode of ABC's "Scandal."



5. Raven-Symone sparks controversy over comments on Oprah

Raven-Symone, of "The Cosby Show" and "That's So Raven" fame, sparked controversy this week over comments she made in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in which she said she's "tired of being labeled" and, specifically, that she didn't want to be labeled as "African-American." The actress later responded to the subsequent backlash in a statement clarifying her position, saying, "I never said I wasn't black ... I want to make that very clear. I said, I am not African-American. I never expected my personal beliefs and comments to spark such emotion in people. I think it is only positive when we can openly discuss race and being labeled in America."



6. Alfonso Ribeiro does "The Carlton" on "Dancing with the Stars"

You knew it was coming -- on this week's "Dancing with the Stars," actor Alfonso Ribeiro whipped out his memorable "The Carlton" dance moves from his role on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." And it paid off when he and partner Witney Carson were rewarded with the night's only perfect score.



7. Musician Paul Revere dies at 76

Paul Revere, the organist and leader of the Raiders rock band, died on Saturday at age 76. The band's manager said he died at his home in Garden Valley, Idaho, from cancer. While the band's lineup changed over the past 50 years, Revere remained a constant presence with the group and he'd continued touring until earlier this year.



8. "American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres on FX

Viewers went under the big top on Wednesday night when the fourth season of "American Horror Story" got under way. Among the episode's highlights: Sarah Paulson as the two-headed Bette and Dot Tattler, who have distinctly different personalities, Jessica Lange singing a David Bowie tune and the sure-to-give-you-nightmares "Freak Show" villain, Twisty the Clown. Even the opening credits were creepy!



9. Will.i.am and Jimmy Fallon appear as teenage girls in music video "Ew!"

Jimmy Fallon brought back his judgmental teenaged character Sara on the "Tonight Show" this week, teaming up with will.i.am -- as Mir.i.am, wearing some serious orthodontic gear -- for a song dedicated to her favorite word: "Ew!" And they made a music video to go with it. Get some Friday laughs by watching it below:



10. "Gone Girl" rises to the top of the box office

Fans of Gillian Flynn's novel and solid reviews from critics led to a very good debut for "Gone Girl." The David Fincher-directed drama, starring Ben Affleck (who has a much-talked-about nude scene) as a man whose wife (Rosamund Pike) vanishes under suspicious circumstances, took first place at the box office with $38 million in its opening weekend.
