Townhome Roof Gone In Eden Prairie Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Residents of a unit in a townhome complex in Eden Prairie are without a home after an overnight fire.

Firefighters said they got a call around 1:45 a.m. to go to a fire at 9517 Hartford Circle.

Crews said the flames were in the roof and attic area.

They had to wake up a woman who was sleeping in the bottom area of the unit. They were able to get her out OK. She said she hadn't noticed the fire yet because it was still above her, though smoke was beginning to fill the unit.

No one was injured by the fire, although one firefighter was hurt after slipping on ice.

One unit of the four townhome complex is uninhabitable because the fire destroyed the roof. The other three units were OK for residents to stay in.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but firefighters don't think it was anything suspicious.

Crews from the Chanhassen, Bloomington and Minnetonka Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
