MINNEAPOLIS — WCCO has issued a pop-up NEXT Weather Alert for Tuesday afternoon and early evening due to severe weather.

A few thunderstorms have already produced hail in parts of Minnesota. WCCO viewers in Westbrook, Shakopee and Springfield have sent in images of hail storms.

In addition to damaging hail, there's potential for some localized flooding to the southeast of the Twin Cities into the evening.

The rain will move out overnight.

Wednesday will be dry and mild, with more rain returning late in the day and spilling into Thursday.

There could be a few isolated storms on Thursday, but mostly it's expected to be a rain event.

Friday is the next big change.

The wind picks up, with gusts from the northwest reaching speeds of 15-25 mph, and temperatures will drop like a rock. Temperatures will only make it into the mid-40s.

Saturday is expected to be even colder in the high-30s, with the possibility of a light accumulation of snow up north.

WCCO is monitoring Friday and Saturday as possible NEXT Weather Alert days due to the snow possibility.

Breezy conditions again on Sunday into Monday and high temperatures in the upper-30s.
