Mpls. School Board To Hire New Search Firm To Find New Superintendent
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis School Board has approved a new plan in the search for its next superintendent.
On Tuesday night, the Star Tribune reports the board agreed to hire a new search firm -- most likely from Minnesota. It will receive applications and do fact checking along with help from the school board.
The board also voted to hire someone to organize community meetings to get feedback during this new search.
A hiring committee will also be part of the process.
"The search firm is going to be managing the paperwork around the search and those legal things that happen when you're hiring people and dealing with it," Board of Education's Carla Bates said.
The search started more than a year ago.
The board almost made a hire -- Sergio Paez -- but that ended after abuse allegations came up in his old district.
The plan is to select a new superintendent by May.
