Storms fade Friday in Twin Cities; State Fair may see its coldest day in years Sunday

An approaching cold front will continue to throw clouds across the Twin Cities on Friday morning.

Spotty showers and storms arrive in the late morning across the metro and linger through the early afternoon. The extra clouds will keep highs in the upper 70s.

By evening, the metro will dry out with winds and cooler temperatures becoming the bigger story for the weekend.

Gusts from the northwest are expected to reach 30 mph on Saturday, keeping highs closer to 70.

On Sunday, temps stay in the 60s, making it the first time it's been that cool for the Minnesota State Fair since 2021 — and the coolest August fair day since 2018.

A stray shower is possible Sunday, otherwise the forecast remains dry into next week with temps gradually rebounding back into the mid 70s by Wednesday.
