Hospital Board Votes To Dissolve Prior To Election
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The North Suburban Hospital Board has voted to dissolve.
The group founded Unity Hospital in 1966, and was currently a part of the Allina Health system.
Some members of the community questioned the timing of the vote. It came after three healthcare workers filed paperwork to run for board seats and challenge incumbents in the Nov. 8 election.
The healthcare workers said they would bring transparency and accountability, something they said current board members are not providing.
An Allina spokesman said the board did not have decision-making authority over the hospital's operations.
Now that the board has dissolved, Allina plans to buy the land with the option of building in the future.
