Some driven young girls within St. Paul Public Schools are not taking any breaks from learning this summer. Fifth and sixth graders wrapped up a two week summer program learning STEM, which is science, technology, engineering and math.

Munir Zukanovic made his way to Minnesota decades ago, and has been working to become a citizen ever since. He moved to the country in the wake of the Bosnian war. Zukanovic was beaten in a war camp and lost a 13-year-old son.
"We have seen the rights of parents eroded over time and replaced by heavy-handed bureaucracy," Sen. Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids) said. Senate Republicans say a slate of bills they've put forward empower parents, who they believe have been sidelined in their kids' education.
Minnesota students have been switching from in-person to distance learning for nearly two years.
"Nothing will take the place of like worksheets and handwriting and all those things, but if it feels like a game then it doesn't feel like work," Katherine Bawar said.
While the health department did not say where the student was enrolled, the latest figures released Thursday showed that a teenager in Hennepin County was among the newly reported COVID deaths.
A north Minneapolis man is using math to encourage Black youth to enroll at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
While some exemptions are allowed for medical and non-medical reasons, approximately 90% of Minnesota schoolchildren take several vaccines before junior high.
