When you do come out to the fair you don't have to spend a fortune, as there are dozens of booths and vendors that have inexpensive goodies. On average a family will spend $47 per person here at the fair between the food rides and souvenirs.

"We've been in the concession business for over 30 years and it's always been our dream to get into the Minnesota State Fair," Carol said. It took the Helmers 14 years of applying before finally getting admitted into the fair in 2007. So to see their olives turn into such a hit meant the world.
