Surveillance Cam Catches 3 Teens Wanted For Burglary

MIAMI (CBS4) – Having run low on leads, Miami-Dade police have asked for the public's help to solve a burglary last November in the southern part of the county.

In the late morning or early afternoon hours of November 28th, three teens burglarized the home of 76-year old Andres Amoedo at 410 SW 133rd Avenue. Investigators said the teens broke in through the rear of the residence and stole more than $3,000 in jewelry.

Amoedo said the jewelry taken had great sentimental value.

"Most of the jewelry belonged to my mother, gold chains, ah 24 karat gold," said Amoedo.  "There were coins inside, about three or four watches which belonged to my wife's sisters who passed away in an accident."

"I feel very sad because those things mean so much to me," said Amoedo's wife Flora. "Those were my sisters, my mother, my memories."

Amoedo said he feels violated.

"I feel terrible, terrible.  Today we are at a loss. People don't care any more.  The detectives said they had a lot of cases.  I said focus on one case," said Amoedo.

Two surveillance cameras captured images of the teens, who police said looked to be between 16 and 19 years old. On the video, as they walk by the one of the cameras, two use their arms to shield their faces. They drove off in a black or dark colored 2002-2007 Nissan Altima.

Investigators said the Amoedo's neighborhood has been targeted for several residential burglaries.

Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is urged to call Crime Stoppers (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
