The show of force is intended to send a message to Washington, which has stationed three warships off Venezuela's coast for what the U.S. says are anti-drug operations.
The U.S. is deploying 3 guided-missile destroyers to waters off Venezuela as part of President Trump's effort to combat threats from Latin American cartels.
The U.S. military has also reportedly deployed several vessels to the southern Caribbean, as part of President Trump's crackdown on Latin American drug cartels.
The State Department said that it does not have an operating embassy or consulate in Venezuela and warned of "severe risks" there.
