With Levy, the Lions could negotiate into the season if need be, though talks about an extension have not even started yet.
"She's got strong opinions, and she's extremely sharp," Lewand said, "and she has a lot of interaction with her peers, with other owners."
General manager Martin Mayhew disputes the notion the Lions have been relatively inactive in free agency.
While O'Brien said he would not compare the two players, he said he thinks Watt is the best defensive player in the league.
"Some of those incidents occurred a long time ago, and obviously players learn from situations, as I think he mentioned," Philbin said.
Here in Detroit, there's not many events that excite Lions fans more than the NFL Draft.
If the reviews from other NFL coaches give any indication, Ngata should help the Lions just as much as they hope he will.
