Sedona Hills Fire evacuations lifted, Northern Colorado residents near Carter Lake allowed to return home

A wildfire burning in Northern Colorado that was estimated at about 12 acres has been contained and evacuations have been lifted. The Sedona Hills Fire is located just north of Carter Lake in Larimer County. That's west of Loveland.

Mandatory evacuations were in place for about 3 hours for residents in the Sedona Hills community.

Berthoud Fire Protection District wrote on Facebook that the firefight was challenging because of "variable winds, the slope where the fire is located, and dry conditions."

A firefighting helicopter and two air tankers were used to help control the spread of the fire.

There were no reports of any injuries. There's also no word so far on what might have caused the fire.

The American Red Cross opened an evacuation center at Grace Place Church in Berthoud for a short time. One evacuee told CBS Colorado this is the second time he's had to evacuate from his home.

"Hopefully we don't have to bail out very long," he said at the time.
