Lawmakers Hiking Mountains To Raise Money For Dome
ALMA, Colo. (CBS4) - Colorado Democrats and Republicans are climbing to new heights to help fix up the state Capitol.
On Tuesday a bi-partisan group of Democrats and Republicans climbed Mount Democrat and Mount Lincoln. Both are 14ers south of Breckenridge.
They're working with Colorado Preservation Inc. to raise money to pay for repairs to the Capitol dome. The dome has been deteriorating over the years and needs $17 million in repairs.
There are some repairs under way right now, but with the state dealing with a budget crisis, organizers of the climb are trying to get donations from the public to help with the bill.
