The Coast Guard will run out of funding to pay personnel on May 1, with the first missed paychecks expected May 15.

The Coast Guard said it has found the three phosphorous flares that had gone missing in Lake Michigan. The fourth flare washed up on Montrose Beach earlier this week.
The flares ignite when they hit water, after a cap and screw are removed.
The cutter Mackinaw made the annual Christmas Tree Ship voyage to deliver those trees to families in need in the Chicago area.
"This month has been deadly when it comes to beach drownings in the area of Puerto Rico," the Coast Guard said.
A sub that set out to explore the Titanic wreckage vanished in the North Atlantic, prompting a massive search and rescue operation.
