Prosecutors in court Saturday said this was a case of a simple traffic dispute turning into a brutal murder.
"This was a senseless act of violence; a needless traffic argument turned deadly," police Supt. David Brown said.
Alan Perez, 25, is charged in the stabbing that killed 36-year-old father Jeremy Walker this week. CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports.
Calls to 911 came in from people on the street who saw the badly injured driver.
Chicago Police have an update on a stabbing that left a 36-year-old father dead in River North on Tuesday.
Jeremy Walker's girlfriend said he was supposed to pick her up, and she tracked down his phone after not hearing from him for an hour and a half. By the time she got to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, he was dead. CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reports.

Police said a 34-year-old woman left the driver's side door open as she was pumping gas in the 600 block of North LaSalle Street around 6:45 p.m., when someone got into the car and drove off.
This shooting is an part of a larger trend -- an uptick in crime in River North.
