Norwood Police: Teen Shot School Bus Carrying Kindergartners With BB Gun

NORWOOD (CBS) – A Norwood teenager was arrested Friday related to an incident earlier in the week where a school bus carrying kindergarten students was shot with a BB gun.

On Wednesday, a school bus was shot by a BB gun as it was driving up Dean Street in Norwood.

No students were injured, but the BB caused damage to a bus window.

Initially, officers interviewed three men between 17 and 22 years old who said they were present when the shot was fired but denied shooting the bus. Those men did not identify who was responsible.

Officers then found a handgun-shaped BB gun in a car that was parked nearby.

During their investigation, officers interviewed 18-year-old Jancarlo Perez, who lives in the area. While being interviewed, he admitted to shooting the bus, police said.

Police continued their investigation into Friday, and that morning arrested Perez.

He is charged with assault by dangerous weapon, malicious damage to property, and shooting a projectile at a school bus.

Perez was arraigned in Dedham District Court.
