LEOMINSTER - A woman is accused of shooting her boyfriend to death after an argument in her Leominster home. Court documents identify the man as 53-year-old Jeffrey Carr, and say 28-year-old Jami Parker is charged with killing him.

Woman charged in boyfriend's killing

Investigators say Parker called an ambulance for the victim at about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. When officers arrived at the Main Street home, they found Carr dead on the kitchen floor with a single gunshot wound to the head.

"After a subsequent interview, as well as reviewing the audio recording of Parker's 911 call, it was determined that there was a domestic argument at the residence," a Massachusetts State Police trooper's report states. "During that argument, Parker accessed a firearm from the bedroom and shot Carr in the head."

Police at the scene took Parker into custody. She was sobbing as officers brought her into Leominster District Court on Thursday. Parker is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

"She's a victim," Parker's aunt said outside court.

Alleged history of domestic violence

Parker's lawyer John Roemer pointed to a history of domestic violence and restraining orders between the couple dating back to January and October of 2023. Neighbors say the two have a baby together.

"It's hard to say, without going into the evidence, who the real victim is," Roemer said.

At least one law enforcement vehicle was outside the house on Thursday morning. A neighbor told WBZ-TV she saw a "big commotion with all the cops," including five police cruisers and a fire truck.

The National Guard confirmed Parker is a sergeant in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, who enlisted back in May 2018 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. The National Guard said she hasn't deployed.

Parker is being held without bail, pending a dangerousness hearing next week.
