BOSTON (CBS) -- Isaiah Thomas' no-look, behind the head pass from Thursday night's win over the Milwaukee Bucks was the talk of Friday's Celtics practice.
And after dishing out what could have been the pass of the season, Thomas followed it up with what could be the quote of the year on Friday.
Patriots cornerback and Super Bowl XLIX hero Malcolm Butler was courtside at the TD Garden on Thursday night with a front row seat for Thomas' highlight reel assist to Jae Crowder, which helped seal Boston's 112-107 victory. Butler had a great 2015 season with the Patriots, but will forever be known for picking off Russell Wilson to secure New England's Super Bowl XLIX win.
Would history have repeated itself if Butler was on the floor in some kind of wacky sports crossover Thursday evening? As good as Butler is at shutting down the likes of Odell Beckham Jr. and DeAndre Hopkins, Thomas doesn't think he would have been able to pick off his dish to Crowder.
"He couldn't intercept that one," Thomas joked with reporters.
It should come as no surprise that Thomas returned to the Celtics locker room Thursday night with a phone full of texts and voicemails about the pass, along with a few thousand mentions on Twitter. That hasn't really slowed down either.
"The internet was broke last night," said Thomas. "Everyone has been hitting me up about that pass."
Thomas' teammates were still talking about his dish after Friday's practice, though it sounds like Evan Turner felt there was a lot of luck involved.
"He literally pulled it out of his [backside]," said Turner.
Luck or not, it's a pass that won't soon be forgotten. Now go ahead and watch it another 1,000 times.
