City Shuts Down Midtown Dunkin' Donuts After Rat Video Goes Viral

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Dunkin' Donuts in midtown Manhattan has been shut down after a rat video went viral.

The 15-second cellphone video, which was posted to YouTube on Tuesday, shows a rat crawling around the doughnuts at the shop at 37th Street and Eighth Avenue, 1010 WINS reported.

The Department of Health inspected the store a day after the video was posted online.

The shop was closed "because of conditions could not be corrected at the time of the inspection, including a severe rodent infestation that requires professional pest control services," the health department said.

The store was also cited for other critical violations, including inadequate hand-washing facilities and food not being protected from contamination, the health department said.
