In 2001, actor and Sundance Film Festival founder Robert Redford discussed the disappointment of meeting celebrities before he became famous. "When you usually saw the people that they were, they were usually disappointing, as I'm sure I am," he said. Redford died in September.
"Acting is not easy," Robert Redford told 60 Minutes in 2001. "You have to adjust to different situations, different environments, different dynamics, and be convincing… You have to keep yourself alive emotionally through take after take after take." Redford, who died in September, will be honored today at the Sundance Film Festival. He founded the event more than 40 years ago.
ACF Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso died Saturday at age 76. 60 Minutes spoke with the billionaire in 2023 about his journey from building New York-based cable TV empire Mediacom to owning a soccer club in Florence, after initialing moving to the U.S. at age 12 with his family from southern Italy.
In 2015, 60 Minutes' Morley Safer spoke with Wikipedia's Jimmy Wales. Safer learned how the site got its name and how Wikipedia operated. At the time, it was one of the most visited sites, with users clicking on the vast digital encyclopedia over 200 times a second.

In 2002, 60 Minutes interviewed President Hugo Chávez about his rise to power, the coup that ousted him, and his return to power in Venezuela. Steve Kroft described the outspoken president as "a larger than life figure" who was a lot friendlier with the likes of Castro, Qaddafi, and Hussein than he was with the United States. Chávez died in 2013.

In 2019, billionaire Ray Dalio told 60 Minutes the growing wealth gap in the country is a "national emergency." He warned that the issue "threatens to split us." This week, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Dalio as a new partner of the so-called "Trump Accounts" program, a tax-deferred investment vehicle for American children, intended to secure their financial future. Dalio pledged to make a $75 million donation to children in Connecticut.
