New world screwworm continues spreading as Texas ramps up inspections
The new world screwworm outbreak is expanding across Texas, with additional cases confirmed among livestock in central and southern parts of the state. In response, the Texas Animal Health Commission is establishing inspection points around affected areas to slow the parasite’s spread while still allowing ranchers to move and manage their herds.
