DENTON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - The morning commute was complicated for some drivers in Denton County, after a tractor trailer hauling gravel wrecked and spilled a good portion of the load.
The crash, involving the semi and a small sedan, happened on US Highway 380 and North Potter Shop Road, in the Cross Roads area.
The rock hauler fell onto its side, spilling some 28 tons of gravel onto the roadway. All the gravel on the road closed both the east and westbound lanes of Highway 380 for hours. A front end loader was brought in to remove the rocks. Workers with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) put up cones and barrels around the site.
Emergency workers and at least two wreckers helped to right the 18-wheeler. The large cleanup meant both the east and westbound lanes of Highway 380 were closed for hours.
Officials with the Denton Independent School District warned parents that school buses might be running late because of the closure.
No one was hurt in the accident.
All of the lanes of Highway 380 were reopened just before 8 a.m.
