Risk of Storms Again Today

The storm risk this afternoon is not zero, it's marginal. The storms that do develop in the daytime heating could produce severe weather. Storms north of us this morning have produced some outflow boundaries that could help trigger storms later today.

One of the forecast models show storms firing up out to the west of the metro area and moving east. Given the lack of clear triggers like a front or dryline in north Texas where these storms crop up this afternoon remains uncertain. What is certain is that the atmosphere is highly unstable. Any storms that do develop could be very strong:

 

Storm chances pick up as we close the work week and get into the holiday weekend. The upper-level low that has been parked well out to our west over the last several days finally moves into the Central Plains. This will greatly increase our storm chances on Thursday and Friday with the risk of severe weather both days:

For the holiday weekend we fall right back into the standard warm & muggy weather with afternoon storms. We'll keep a 20% risk for each day:
