KANSAS CITY, KS (Sports Network) - NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and team owner Richard Childress were reportedly involved in a physical altercation in the garage area at Kansas Speedway following Saturday's Camping World Truck Series race.

Busch, also a team owner in the Truck Series, and Richard Childress Racing driver Joey Coulter were in a fierce battle for a top-five position during the final laps of the 250-mile truck race at Kansas. Coulter passed Busch on the final lap to finish fifth, while Busch, who was attempting to win his fourth- consecutive race in the series, settled for sixth place.

When the race concluded, Busch, 26, tapped Coulter on the cool-down lap and then parked next to him on pit road. The altercation between Busch and the 65- year-old Childress occurred shortly after.

SPEED pit reporter Ray Dunlap posted on his Twitter account that a fight between Busch and Childress took place in the garage area.

"Hot news from the track," Dunlap tweeted. "Grandpa Childress put a whipping on Kyle Busch in the truck garage. Look for big sunglasses on kubu [referring to Busch] sun."

NASCAR spokesperson Kerry Tharp confirmed that officials from the sanctioning body are looking into reports of the incident.

Busch is currently on probation for all NASCAR events due to an altercation he had with Kevin Harvick in the May 7 Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway.

NASCAR fined Busch and Harvick, who drives for Childress in Sprint Cup, $25,000 each and placed both of them on probation until June 15.
