BEDFORD (CBS11) - Recorded-breaking temperatures in DFW aren't keeping Pokémon GO players from chasing monsters outdoors, and now a fan of the game is doing her part to make sure her friends stay safe from the heat.
Jennifer Partin, 21, of The Colony has taken up the role of the iconic Pokémon character "Nurse Joy."
She has brought her to life by dressing up in costume as "Nurse Joy" and heading out to popular Pokémon GO spots to hand out water bottles, sunscreen and bug spray.
"I kind of just picked the character that was the most kind and helpful," said Partin. "When they have their water they are like 'you are the most amazing person. You're just so sweet.'"
Partin says she has been going out to the so called "Poke-Stops" for about a month now to help players beat the heat. She tells us she buys all of her own supplies to hand out and on occasion she receives donations to buy more.
These past few days have been so hot there are time when she also gets exhausted.
"There been a few days when I've come home with headaches and dizzy and just awful," said Partin.
Her character is "Nurse Joy" and true to her name she is spreading happiness to Poke trainers one water bottle at a time.
