NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Food and Drug Administration has announced it's investigating WEN hair care products after receiving 127 "adverse event" reports -- the most number of reports ever received by the agency regarding a hair care product.

CBS11 has followed the story for months.

"I thought great, I'm going to have this luxurious hair that everybody has on TV," said Jennifer Minonno, 44, of Fort Worth.

Minonno said the celebrity endorsed WEN made her hair fall out in clumps.

"I looked like a chemo patient. I cried for two weeks straight," said Minonno.

Minonno put it all together after seeing CBS 11's Consumer Justice investigation on the more than 200 people suing WEN claiming the product caused their hair to thin or fall out.

The FDA is now is investigating reports of hair loss, hair breakage, balding, itching and rash by WEN by Chaz Dean Cleansing Conditioner products.

According to the FDA's post on it's website:

As of July 7, 2016, the FDA had received 127 adverse event reports directly from consumers about WEN by Chaz Dean Cleansing Conditioner products, the largest number of reports ever associated with any cosmetic hair cleansing product, including cleansing conditioners. FDA is also investigating more than 21,000 complaints reported directly to Chaz Dean, Inc. and Guthy Renker, LLC that FDA learned of during inspections of manufacturing and distribution facilities.

WEN by Chaz Dean sent CBS 11's Consumer Justice Unit the following statement:

"We have confidence in WEN® by Chaz Dean. We have no evidence that WEN, or any of the individual ingredients in WEN, causes hair loss. WEN is used by hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers, and all formulations of the product comply with applicable regulations wherever it is sold. We have consistently cooperated with the FDA with respect to any inquiries regarding WEN and we intend to continue to do so."

"No other person should have to feel that way or go through that. Some people's hair might not even come back," said Minonno.
