Family Wins Millions From Dallas School After Daughter's Affair With Teacher
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas jury awarded a local family millions of dollars today after their daughter's affair with a teacher.
The family sued Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD) following the 16-year-old girl's affair with a 34-year-old teacher.
According to the family's attorneys, when the affair was discovered the school told the girl if she didn't leave voluntarily she would be expelled.
Her parents sued, claiming the school didn't do enough to protect her from the relationship.
The jury awarded the family $9.3 million Wednesday.
The girl is now in college. The teacher was allowed to resign from the school and has been charged with sexual assault of a child, according to the family's lawyers.
ESD says it plans to appeal the verdict.
