Easter Weekend Forecast
The total number of tornadoes that hit north Texas last Tuesday is now at 16. The National Weather Service office added two more tornadoes today, both rated EF-0 (winds less than 85mph) with short paths. One was just southwest of downtown Denton in Wise County. The second one was another EF-0 in Poetry, Texas in Kaufman county.
We had wonderful weather today for opening day. We have some storms in the forecast for this Easter weekend however.
Tonight expect partly cloudy skies by tomorrow morning with a mild low of 59 degrees. It should be noted that every day and every night so far in April we've had above normal temperatures. This trend also includes the last eight days of March.
Tomorrow it'll be partly cloudy with a high in the lower 80's. In the afternoon a cold front will be just to our northwest:
This front could trigger some severe weather to our west from Abilene to Wichita Falls. These storms could threaten Wise, Denton and Montague Counties by early evening. The Storm Prediction Center puts some of north Texas just north and west of the metroplex in a risk area (shown in green).
-
We suspect that by the time they reach into the metro by evening they'll be non-severe. We'll certainly keep an eye on them as we get through the afternoon and early evening.
EASTER SUNDAY
Sunrise on Sunday is at 7:08 in DFW. We'll have partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 60's. Highs will reach into the upper 70's. We'll have mostly cloudy skies by afternoon. The cold front that arrived the night before will stall right over us and give us a 30% chance of afternoon storms. At this time we are not expecting severe weather.
START OF NEXT WEEK
Monday and Tuesday both show a 30% chance of thunderstorms, highs should be in the upper 70's.
