North Texas' first day of fall off to a warm start

Tuesday's high reached 96 degrees, and the low was 73 degrees. Though this afternoon is hot, this morning was the coolest temperature DFW has seen in 51 days. The last time the morning low was 73 degrees was Aug. 2.

Fall Equinox officially starts at 7:05 pm Tuesday night. It has been a hot start to the season, to say the least. In the last few years, the first day of the Fall season has started above average, too.   

The 67-day streak of no measurable rainfall at DFW Airport came to an end Monday and tied for the second-longest streak on record; only 0.01" of rain was recorded.

Wednesday, there is a very small chance for rain for counties to the west of I-35 in the afternoon, but the next bigger opportunity isn't until the end of the weekend and the start of the following week.

Expect temperatures to be in the mid-70s when waking up on Wednesday, with highs in the mid-90s in the afternoon.

Dry conditions and above-average temperatures with lows in the middle 70s and highs in the 90s will be expected through the rest of the week.
