DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM)-Lacy Webb-Martin remembers her oh so well a moment that changed her life.
"I remember thinking, maybe he just bumped me real hard and he didn't take a bite… it was that pain free," reflects Lacy.
But he did take a bite.
"It's a very surreal and wonderful thing to sit back with my husband and simply watch a movie."
Martin, a born adventurer, now savors the simple, pleasures, and takes nothing for granted: especially life.
Last month, while snorkeling in the Bahamas, she was so focused on filming a stingray, that she didn't see the Bullshark that attacked her from behind.
"I felt a really hard hit from behind, a shake, and I was let go," says Lacy adrenaline flooded her body, she says she felt no pain still the situation was deadly serious.
"Even the doctor wasn't sure she was going to make it," explains Britt, Lacy's husband.
"When she moved, you could see muscles moving. Just a huge gaping hole, like the size of a large pizza folded in half."
Through it all, Lacy remained calm and even kept her family from panicking.
"In my mind, I was very relaxed and methodical. My faith was there and I never once thought that I was going to die," says Lacy. "I kept telling them, I'm going to be fine, I'm going to be okay."
Now, a little more than a month later, she's better than okay. A device called a 'wound vac' keeps the wound sterile and is helping her regrow lost tissue and muscle. And as she regains her strength, she says she's sharing her story to hopefully encourage others.
"You're gonna have good days, you're gonna have bad days... other people out there that are going through what you're going through. Through faith, and through friends and family you can just get through anything."
By the way, her family plans to join her, as yes; she goes back into the water.
