Car fire in Cedar Hill claims lives of occupant and dog, investigation ongoing
NORTH TEXAS – A car fire claimed the lives of an occupant and a dog on Tuesday evening in Cedar Hill, police said.
Officers responded to the scene at about 7:40 p.m. and observed smoke coming from a vehicle in the parking lot at East Beltline Road and Joe Wilson Road, according to the Cedar Hill Police Department.
A man exiting a nearby store informed officers that his friend and a dog were inside the vehicle, police said.
While the Cedar Hill Fire Department extinguished the fire, the occupant and the dog did not survive.
The deceased person's identity and the reason they failed to escape have not been disclosed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
