Rick Ritter

Two-time Emmy Award-winning anchor Rick Ritter joined WJZ in May 2014. He anchors the 5, 7 and 11 p.m. newscasts. He also co-hosts WJZ's Purple Pregame & Postgame Shows during Ravens season and is part of the "Purple Playbook" Show with Super Bowl Champion Torrey Smith.

Since coming to Baltimore, Rick's won an Emmy Award for anchoring during the explosion that rocked a Northwest Baltimore neighborhood and an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Live Reporter." He's covered some of the biggest events throughout the city and our region, from the death of Freddie Gray, to mass shootings in Harford County, to the EF-2 tornado that ripped through the Eastern Shore.

Rick leads several charity events throughout the year, including the station's partnership with the SEED School of Maryland & "The Brigance Brigade" Foundation, which helps families living with ALS. He also hosts fundraisers for our fallen heroes and spearheads "Shrimp & Gifts," a popular holiday shopping spree for underprivileged children in Baltimore City.

Before moving to Baltimore, he worked at NBC in Fort Myers/Naples, Florida. He started his career at NBC in Atlantic City.

Rick graduated from Widener University in Pennsylvania where he started all four years for the University's football team as a wide receiver and was selected to play in a national all-star game in Salem, Virginia.

A Philadelphia native, Rick is a passionate sports fan and loves spending time with his wife and their beautiful girls.
