Luzdelia Caballero

Luzdelia Caballero is a general assignment reporter for CBS LA, appearing on evening newscasts starting at 4 p.m. She is dedicated to telling stories that center the community - highlighting its challenges, amplifying its voices, and creating meaningful impact.

In addition to daily reporting, Luzdelia is a member of the station's immigration beat team, covering protests, the impact of federal immigration enforcement in local neighborhoods, and the legal and judicial issues behind the headlines. She's passionate about holding those in power accountable and getting real answers for the communities she serves.

Born and raised in San Diego, she spent months each year in Jalisco, Mexico, where her mother was raised - an experience that deeply shapes her perspective and storytelling. She is a proud graduate of UCLA, earning a double major in Communication Studies and Spanish.

An Emmy Award-winning journalist and Golden Mike nominee, and proud NAHJ member, she's covered extensive natural disasters, including the devastating January 7th fires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena that forever changed those communities.

The proud daughter of immigrants from Mexico and Peru, she grew up in a predominantly Spanish-speaking household and is a first-generation college graduate, alongside her older brother.

When not reporting, you'll find Luzdelia hiking, at the beach, spending time with her family, loving on her dogs and bunny, or tending to her ever-growing plant collection.

Have a news tip - or need plant or fur baby advice? She's just an email or DM away. Facebook: Luzdelia Caballero Instagram: @Luzdelia_c Twitter/X: @luzdelia_c
