Peer groups help young adults with mental illness

One in six young people experience a mental health disorder each year, and the suicide rate for adolescents age 10 to 14 has nearly tripled in the last decade. Miana Bryant, who was diagnosed with depression in college, didn't know where to turn, so she created a support group called The Mental Elephant for college students to talk with each other about their mental health. Bryant and NAMI medical director Dr. Ken Duckworth join "CBS This Morning's" special "Stop the Stigma" broadcast to discuss how to find help.

Assault survivors fight "exceptional clearance"

Sexual assault survivors are fighting back against a controversial law enforcement practice, which they say helps attackers avoid justice. “Exceptional clearance” allows unsolved cases to be closed if a victim is deemed uncooperative, or a district attorney declines to prosecute. In 2017, more than 40% of closed rape cases nationwide were “exceptionally cleared.” Nikki Battiste met one survivor for our Eye on America series.
