Just five of the victims have been positively identified, according to Maui County officials. Gov. Green estimated that 1,300 people remain unaccounted for.
The International Longshore and Warehouse Unions of Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco are teaming up to send food, water and medical supplies to the island.
The Hawaii governor said people posing as real estate agents "who may have ill intent" have approached residents about selling damaged properties.
Photos of Maui before and after the fires show the extent of their destruction to Lahaina's neighborhoods and infrastructure.
An estimated 3,000 animals were missing on the island, according to the Maui Humane Society.
"The thing about it is though, thoughts and prayers in a moment like this are not enough," the former president, who grew up in Honolulu, said.
The famous tree is "still breathing" – even as ash and rubble cover the world around it.
A dangerous mix of conditions appear to have combined to make the wildfires that blazed a path of destruction in Hawaii particularly damaging.
Residents say Hawaii's famous warning sirens never went off. The death toll has climbed steadily as the search continues.
"This is my home," Fleetwood said of Maui on "CBS Mornings." "Nowhere else."
Oprah Winfrey has been visiting the largest evacuee shelter in Maui County.
At least 2,200 structures were estimated to have been damaged or destroyed in the wildfires, according to preliminary numbers.
Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said Saturday that operations would focus on "the loss of life."
Like the town itself, the survival of Lahaina's 150-year-old banyan tree is now in question, its limbs scorched by flames that have wiped away generations of Hawaii history.
The bonds of "Ohana" travel a long way, and one Tahoe restaurant is an example of that.

About 40 patients came in seeking treatment Tuesday night amid the fires, Dr. Art Chasen, trauma surgeon and trauma medical director of Maui Health, told CBS News.
