CERES — A legal settlement is expected to switch the power back on at a Ceres mobile home park, which has been without electricity for months.

Twenty residents took part in the lawsuit, which was filed against the landlord of Lazy Wheels Mobile Home Park.

The lawsuit states that residents have gone without power since August despite Stanislaus County Superior Court issuing sanctions back in December, claiming that the loss of power was in retaliation after residents took legal action.

One resident who took part in the lawsuit said that he hopes the power comes back on before the summer heat.

"Through August to October, it was pretty hot. It honestly was fresher sleeping outside because the mobile home, it is metal, so the heat gets trapped in there," the resident said.

California Rural Legal Assistance is representing Lazy Wheels residents. The nonprofit said the settlement requires the landlord to turn back on all utilities and stop any future evictions.
