Woman Fighting Potential $500 Fine For Posting Pro-Cop Sign
CANONSBURG (KDKA) – A sign in the window of a house in Canonsburg warning drug dealers they will be reported is causing quite a stir. Not among suspected drug dealers, but neighbors concerned about property values.
They say the pen is mightier than the sword, and when it's pink and in a window for all to see who live or drive by Giffin Street, it does have a punch.
Cindy Davis lives in the house and has a message: "Neighbors watch. No drug dealers. You will be turned in."
However, the borough manager of Canonsburg got a complaint back in May from a neighbor stating they were having problems selling their house, and the sign may be the reason. Davis got a notice that she was in violation of a zoning ordinance.
Davis could have been fined $500 for each day the sign was in her window, but that was averted. Turns out, the borough will be voting in a new list of zoning ordinances in January, which could allow Davis to keep her sign in the window.
So for now, the sign stays, and Davis will keep her fight going to make it known that the Canonsburg Crime Watch group is looking out.
