PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A 16-year-old is now facing homicide charges after police said he shot his 14-year-old brother in the head while playing with guns in their East Liberty home.

Jordan Mosley was previously charged as an adult with aggravated assault after the shooting on Jan. 4. His brother, Carmello Mosley, died at the hospital a few days later. The new charges come after the medical examiner last month determined Carmello Mosley died from a gunshot wound to the head and neck and ruled his death a homicide.

Pittsburgh police said they found the 14-year-old inside a home on the 6200 block of East Liberty Boulevard after they were called for a shooting around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 4. When police arrived, they said Jordan Mosley told them he had accidentally shot his brother, who was taken to the hospital in grave condition and died on Jan. 7.

After the shooting, Jordan Mosley was detained for questioning at police headquarters, where, according to the criminal complaint, he told investigators that he and his brother were home alone and playing with guns. When they thought someone was coming home, Jordan Mosley told police they placed the magazines back in, but when they realized they were still alone, they continued playing, but with the guns loaded.

According to court paperwork, Jordan Mosley told police he pulled the trigger, and the gun didn't fire, so he pulled it again, shooting his brother in the head.

Jordan Mosley is also facing charges of possession of a firearm by a minor and recklessly endangering another person.
