Steelers' CB Golson Could Miss Entire Season
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Friday that second-round pick, rookie cornerback Senquez Golson underwent surgery on his injured shoulder.
"Senquez Golson had shoulder surgery this morning," Tomlin said. "I don't have an update. Obviously, we'll do what's appropriate after visiting with the surgeon and things post-op."
There is some speculation that Golson could miss the entire season, but Tomlin wasn't ready to make that declaration just yet.
"I don't want to speculate until I visit with the [doctors]," Tomlin said.
The surgery isn't a huge surprise at this point given that Golson was on the PUP list during training camp. Reports had already been swirling that he would need some sort of surgical procedure to repair his injured shoulder.
Golson was the 56th overall pick of this year's draft after starting 33 out of 49 college games that he appeared in at Ole Miss, while recording 136 tackles and 16 interceptions.
Golson led the SEC in interception in 2014 with 10. When he was drafted, he was expected to make an impact on the defense this year as part of a revamped secondary.
