Prized Motorcycle Used In Holiday Tradition Stolen
ARMSTRONG COUNTY (KDKA) – A local holiday tradition might not happen this year, all thanks to a grinch who stole a man's prized possession.
It's a vintage 1947 Indian Chief motorcycle, restored and in mint condition.
Jeff Johns says he parked the bike, which he named "Indian Joe" outside his West Kittanning ice cream parlor when it was stolen.
He was supposed to meet a friend for lunch, a friend who happens to be a police officer.
"We were going to lunch, it was my turn to buy, so the police were here before I was, which was hilarious," Johns told KDKA's Ralph Iannotti.
He uses the motorcycle every Christmas Eve for a "Santa run," he puts on a beard, cap, and his leather jacket and makes several stops in the area, sometimes delivering Christmas candy to children.
"I just hope the bike comes back, if it don't god bless the people, terrible."
On eBay, similar models of the motorcycle sell for more than 30-thousand dollars.
"If someone just took it as a joke, joke's over. I promise I won't beat you or kill ya too bad, bring it back."
