PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Need to brush up on PNC Park's bag policy before going to the home opener? Here's what you can and can't bring to the ballpark to watch the Buccos take on the Orioles.

Fans are allowed to bring one bag into PNC Park as long as it is soft-sided and 16" x 16" x 8" or smaller, according to the Pirates' website. Bags any larger than those dimensions won't be allowed inside the ballpark, and all bags are subject to a search.

Before entering the ballpark, guests will be asked to go through a security screening. The Pirates encourage fans to arrive early to get through security, where they'll have to remove large metal objects like cell phones and cameras before going through.

PNC Park's food and beverage policy

Fans can bring bottled water and food into the ballpark, though there are some restrictions on drinks.

The Pirates say water bottles can't be bigger than 24 ounces and they must be clear, plastic, sealed and disposable. People can't bring alcohol, carbonated beverages, sports drinks, cans, glass bottles or thermoses like YETIs. Juice boxes for kids and medically necessary items are allowed.

What can't you bring into PNC Park?

There's also a list of things fans can't bring into PNC Park, including "hazardous or disruptive items" like Bluetooth speakers, inflatable balls, hoverboards, balloons, motorcycle helmets, frisbees, laser pointers, fireworks and footballs. Weapons and other dangerous items aren't allowed.

The Pirates say they reserve the right to inspect and remove any packages or containers.

Note that all these policies are for Pirates games only. Concerts and other events may have different policies.

The Pittsburgh Pirates play the Baltimore Orioles at PNC Park at 4:12 p.m., a nod to the Steel City's area code.

Other things to know before you go

Before you get to PNC Park, the Pirates encourage fans to have their tickets ready on their phones in the MLB Ballpark app. The Pirates also "strongly encourage" buying tickets online so they're ready in the app. Mobile screenshots won't be accepted.

PNC Park has also gone cashless, so make sure you bring your credit or debit card with you. There is a "reverse ATM" to convert cash to a pre-paid Mastercard free of charge if you forget.

Gates will be open one and a half hours early for all start times, except for 6:40 p.m. When there's a game at that time, gates will open one and a half hours early Friday through Saturday and only one hour on other days.
