About the Organic Gardeners

Organic Gardeners

Sundays 7-8 am

Encompassing all aspects of gardening, The Organic Gardeners is a radio program tailored to home gardeners of all skill levels.

Co-hosted by Doug Oster and Jessica Walliser, the show explores a weekly topic through casual discussions, occasional banter and a lot of laughs. One listen to the pair and it's apparent they love working together.

Listeners are encouraged to call in with gardening questions or make comments related to the day's topic and weekly features.

In the The Plant of the Week segment, Jessica chooses a specific plant based on its easy nature and ability to be grown organically. Her selections usually involve long botanical names. Doug follows with his pick -- a more common plant, ideal for even the most novice gardeners.

For Pest of the Week, Jessica acquaints us with a local insect and all its nasty habits. She presents the listener with natural, economical and reliable ways to deal with the pest along with a list of plants likely affected by it.

In Doug's tip of the Week, he shares with listeners a gardening technique or method that makes life in the garden just a little bit easier. From seed-saving to making your own compost, Doug offers valuable advice for all types of gardeners.

Recorded on a visit to a different home garden each week, Everybody Gardens offers a unique look at regular people who have an unusually strong passion for gardening.

The Organic Gardeners aims to teach people how to create a safer place to garden and a better place to live.
