Ambulance crash in Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania lands 2 in hospital
Two people have been transported to nearby hospitals after a crash involving an ambulance and another vehicle in Upper Dublin Township, Pennsylvania.
First responders were called out to the crash scene at Fitzwatertown and Susquehanna roads just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety.
The ambulance was transporting a patient to a local hospital when the crash occurred. One person in the second vehicle involved in the collision was trapped and needed to be rescued by firefighters, the department said.
The patient on board the original ambulance and the person who was pulled from the vehicle that was hit were taken to local hospitals. Officials say they were in stable condition.
Images from Chopper 3 showed a vehicle with its roof torn off and the ambulance with visible damage. Later in the morning, the vehicles were towed from the scene.
"I was sound asleep at 4:30, and I hear this bang," Patrick Gallagher said. "I looked out the window and I could see the lights."
The crash damaged a homeowner's fence. That property owner said speeding and crashes are a problem in the area.
Fitzwatertown Road was closed during the crash investigation, but as of 9 a.m. it was back open, according to Upper Dublin Township police.
