Panel Urges Senate Delay Vote On Removing Kathleen Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A special Senate committee examining whether Kathleen Kane can do her job as attorney general with a suspended law license has recommended that the Senate hold off on any action for now.

Kane has asked the state Supreme Court to reinstate her law license and the Senate committee is recommending that the Senate not take any action until the high court's intentions are clear.

If, after that, the suspension of Kane's law license remains, according to Chairman John Gordner, the committee says the Senate should vote on removing Kane:

"And we believe that this matter should be decided either up or down by the full Senate."

That recommendation was not supported by the committee's minority Democrats.

And while the committee does not recommend which way the Senate should vote if a vote is ever taken, Gordner believes Kane should be removed from office.

While the panel recommends waiting, Gordner says any Senator can call for a vote on the issue at any time.
