Police Nab Driver In Early Friday Morning Old City Hit-And-Run

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A 34-year-old driver has been charged by Philadelphia police with an attempted hit-and-run and drunk driving that took place in Old City early Friday morning.

Police say the driver struck a male pedestrian at 2nd and Market Streets around 3 a.m.

Authorities say after the suspect struck the pedestrian, he fled the scene and then crashed into the rear of a taxi cab about a block away. Police apprehended the suspect almost immediately.

The pedestrian, who has been unidentified, suffered multiple head injuries and was admitted to Thomas Jefferson Hospital in stable condition. The cab driver was not hurt.
