Planned Parenthood Closes Cherry Hill Clinic
PHILADELPHIA (KYW 1060) -- Planned Parenthood of South Jersey has shuttered its clinic in Cherry Hill in the wake of state funding cuts.
KYW's David Madden reports that no sooner did the legislature fail to override Governor Chris Christie's veto of over $7 million for family planning across the state than the agency took action.
The first wave of cuts left them $160,000 short for the last three months of the year, so Lynn Brown, president of Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey, says she decided to close one of the smaller of their half-dozen clinics in the region, leaving more than a thousand clients looking for another place to go:
"Many of those clients may be able to come to our other sites in Camden County or perhaps even Edgewater Park."
That's in Burlington County. And they could get a lot busier as the county plans to close its two family planning clinics by the end of November.
