Philadelphia Association Of Black Sports And Culture Honors Sports Standouts
The Philadelphia Association of Black Sports and Culture held its 5th Annual Awards Luncheon on Sunday and four local sports standouts were honored during the event.
KYW's Matt Leon reports the PABSC is a group that works to help mentor the community, provide information and advice to the community at large.
The honorees at the luncheon included former 76er star Wali Jones and Marilyn Stephens -- who was the greatest women's basketball player in Temple history and currently the head women's coach at Cheyney:
"You know I've been blessed for so many years with my athletic abilities and the people I have met and the coaches I have been involved with that have been great instructors for me. So I 'm thankful for the opportunity. I'm thankful for the recognition."
Also honored were longtime Chester High hoops coach Fred Pickett and Haverford College assistant athletic director Ann Kroger.
