Sometimes you want to let your stylish side out. With many nightclubs in the city, perhaps you are looking for ones which have a higher dress code or are a bit more upscale. Philly nightlife involves music, booze and a love of boogie-ing the night away. The following top five night clubs in Philadelphia are places that have a stylish ambiance as well as higher quality standards for food and drink.

Rumor is considered a fresh atmosphere to many looking for an upscale evening. This club is divided into two different rooms each plays a different style of music — one is house music and hip-hop or sometimes one room may play techno music. It is rumored one room is has a more scantily clad vibe than the other. But overall, people find rumor to be classy and upscale. There is a VIP room, $2 coat check, clean bathrooms and the cover charge is usually $20.

You may recognize Bleu Martini from the TV show "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia." It also happens to be a premier nightclub over in Old City. The music featured is typically current popular dance music and techno and is provided by different DJs. Happy hour runs on the late side, extending until 9 p.m. As far as cuisine, you can enjoy American, Asian, French and some pretty decent sushi as well. But one popular snack is the Spanish fries. Upscale dress is strictly enforced at 10 p.m. Bleu Martini is open from 4 p.m. - 2 a.m. and gratuities are included in prices.

The roaring 20's are alive and well at The Franklin Bar. You can even enjoy Prohibition-styled beverages which are heavy on the liquor and made with true sour mixes. Plus, they can whip up many specialty drinks. One very popular option is "The Baseball Bat," which is bourbon with peanut butter. The Franklin Bar is located in the upscale Rittenhouse Square area and it matches the neighborhood with its classy bar and lounge. The club atmosphere is divided into an upstairs and downstairs for different options on experience. The upstairs is more casual, where the downstairs has seating and may be where you wish to head for a more upscale evening.

Hop Sing is in a class by itself and is described by the owners as a" simple craft cocktail bar." First of all, there is a secret door entrance, (and no sign outside) and a few rules such as no phone calls inside, no photography and no credit cards. The dress code is business casual or fancier. But what you do get is dark classy atmosphere, tasty drinks and some of the most unusual cocktails you may find in the city, and there are plenty to choose from with more than 30 on the menu.

The Ranstead Room is a smooth jazz, hip, speakeasy type of bar that is located at the back of the El Rey Restaurant. The smooth drinks seem to fit with the style of music and this is where you go for an upscale, refined, relaxing evening. A favorite drink amongst patron is the Moscow Mule, which is vodka with ginger and lime. The bartenders here are described as exceptional and have a strong knowledge of spirits which is what you want for the prices. The Ranstead Room is open daily from 6:30 p.m.- 2 a.m.
