Temperatures climb in Philadelphia area this weekend, with near-freezing temps Monday. Here's the forecast.

A slight warmup in the weather forecast arrives in the Philadelphia area Saturday as temperatures climb above 40 in the city, sticking in the upper 30s north and west of the city.

No need for the sunglasses since skies will remain mostly cloudy. Tonight, we dip below freezing once again and hover in the mid to upper 20's under partly cloudy skies.

There could be a few peeks of sunshine as hazardous travel conditions from overnight freezing rain reach a resolution. Our NEXT Weather Alert for these conditions has ended, but use caution if you're traveling down any side streets or elevated roads as they could still be a bit slick.

What's NEXT

Sunday will feature a bit more sunshine with partly cloudy skies and daytime highs will once again reach the low 40s.

A cold front will sweep through the region Sunday night, but a lack of moisture in the atmosphere will prevent snow.

Behind the front is our NEXT WEATHER MAKER as another polar push of bitter cold arrives with highs only in the low to mid-30s both Monday and Tuesday.

Monday night into Tuesday morning will be the COLDEST NIGHT YET with lows in the teens for Philadelphia and colder away from the city. We haven't been that cold since last February, when we dipped to 16 degrees on Feb. 20.

An inconvenient type of NEXT WEATHER MAKER arrives with a chance of rain showers on Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures climb back to the 40s, and the rain looks light at this point.

Showers are also possible Friday with another push of Arctic air next weekend.

Here's your 7-day forecast:
