2 Alarm Fire Rips Through Diner, Prompts Hotel Evacuation In Chester

CHESTER, Pa., (CBS) – A two alarm fire ripped through a diner, prompting the evacuation of a nearby hotel early Tuesday morning in Chester, Delaware County.

The flames broke out inside the Grape Leaves Diner just before 3 a.m. at 13th Street and Edgmont Avenue, CBS 3 is told.

The diner is attached to the Days Inn. The hotel was evacuated, CBS 3 is told, but guests have since been allowed back inside.

"You just heard the alarm go on and off and then I just got out," said one guest.

"I felt like somebody was coming through my door, they were banging so hard, but we got out. As long as I have my baby I don't really care anything about anything else," said another guest.

Edgmont Avenue was closed between 14th Street and Route 320/Providence Avenue, but has since reopened to traffic.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
